Put God First

There are so many things that clamor for our attention and devotion: our jobs, our kids, our spouses, our hobbies-the demands and distractions of life. And we have to be careful not to let them become more important or more of a priority than our relationship with God. The first of the Ten Commandments states we will have no other gods before Him (see Exodus 20:3). And Deuteronomy 5:8-9 (NLT) says, “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind, or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods.” Yet how many of the things that occupy our time, money, thoughts and attention have taken the place where God is supposed to be? Anything can become a god to us-anything we worship or put an excessive amount of time into. Even your feelings can become a god if you allow them to control you. We need to ask ourselves, “Am I bowing down to God and His Word or to my feelings?” Another challenge we have to confront is living in a world full of humanism and people not wanting God and His Truth to interfere with their lives and routines. It seems...

Prayer For You

Relax your mind and humble your heart to focus on Christ. Allow God to be the only person on your mind while you read this prayer. If we can take the time to read long jokes, stories, etc., we should give the same respect to this prayer. Friends, who pray together, stay together.   Dear Lord, I thank you for this day. I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I’m blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me. Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you. I ask now for Your forgiveness.    Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.   Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over. Let me continue to see sin through God’s eyes and acknowledge it as evil. And when I sin, let me repent, and confess with my mouth my wrongdoing, and receive the forgiveness of God.    And when this world closes in on me, let me remember Jesus’...

When God Say’s No

When God Say’s No   Acts 16:6-8 What do you do when God say’s no? How do you respond to the no’s of God? I know we get excited when God say’s yes. But what happens when God say’s no  and God does say no sometimes.  All you need to do is just read your bible and you will find time after time where God say’s no. Don’t believe what you see on T.V. God will say yes to everything you ask that not biblical, yes God does say yes but it is equally true according to God’s word that God does say no. You have to remember that when you pray that you are asking God for something and that it is possible God might say yes or no. Remember when Jesus was in the garden praying that the cup of suffering would be removed if God told Jesus the sinless one no what makes you think that he not going to tell a sinner no, it kills me how we sin so much and think that we can ask God for anything and just expect him to say yes. One thing I like about Paul is that he was a everyday Christian and not a once or twice a week Christian, Paul had one Identity some of us come on Sunday with our Christian identity then when...

Letting Go, Don’t Waste Your Time

Holding on is being brave, but letting go and moving on is often what makes us stronger and happier. Here are ten signs it’s time to let go: Someone expects you to be someone you’re not. – Don’t change who you are for anyone else.  It’s wiser to lose someone over BEING WHO YOU ARE, than to keep them by being someone you’re not.  Because it’s easier to mend a broken heart, than it is to piece together a shattered identity.  It’s easier to fill an empty space in your life where someone else used to be, than it is to fill the empty space inside yourself where YOU used to be. A person’s actions don’t match their words. – Everybody deserves somebody who helps them look forward to tomorrow.  If someone has the opposite effect on you, because they are consistently inconsistent and their actions don’t match up with their words, it’s time to let them go.  It’s always better to be alone than to be in bad company.  True friendship is a promise made in the heart – silent, unwritten, unbreakable by distance, and unchangeable by time.  Don’t listen to what people say; watch what they do.  Your true friends will slowly reveal themselves over time. You catch yourself forcing someone to love you. – Let us keep in mind that we can’t force anyone to love us.  We shouldn’t...
